Headed down to the wharf for a quick flick this arvo to test a new rod , i was trying different lures to see how it felt , which was good .i 1st tied on a stick minnow ,lost it 2nd cast to what i think was a tailor
,tried a few more lures then tied on a chubby & supprisingly got these 2 jackets,is there a fish the chubby cant tame?

nice fish i like jackets sux cleaning a heap of them but sweet to eat
I remember a time i was off the rocks at outer harbor here in Adelaide and caught around 40 between 3 blokes i had to clean them all my hands were screwed better than sandpaper they are

Bloody Leatherjackets will chew anything . . . we've had plagues of them offshore Sydney and they took about 100m of braid and my Sampo swivel dropping for bottom fish last time I went out
Good eating tho and easy to clean Mully . . . 1 cut and rip and the skin comes off with the guts still in it
Well done to get them on a lure but you'll lose some

i do the same but ours down south are big muthas and the skin needs 2 hands a some stages to remove anyway with the bigger ones i always end up with sandpaper hands

try same way we do Tandan's.
run a sharp knife around behind head/gill/spines....
nail thru head to timber post at shoulder height....
grab skin with nail pincers and peel downwards...
