New surface lures

Post by Baz » Thu Jul 03, 2014 11:56 am

I've been playing around with some surface lures lately, made from existing shapes. I'm yet to do any thorough testing with them but hopefully they will be winners.

The first lot of pics are of what you'd call a stickbait I guess. It is a Hunter110 with no bib.I painted it 'sideways' if you know what I mean. I've seen plenty of crook fish skipping along the surface on their side and that's what I was trying to reproduce.

The other pics are some Hunter 75 walkers and another stickbait. Hoping the Bass like them once spring comes around.

Very true Vince, over this cold weather already. Still haven't had a frost yet though.

I will be giving the larger surface lure a go on some rat Kingfish and Salmon tomorrow if all goes to plan.

Baz, you are going to have to come back over the ranges, you'll get soft living down that way. Minus 3.7 in Mudgee this morning & we cracked minus 6 for the first time this year.

That is why I live on this side of the divide. Minus 6 is brass monkey weather.

meant to be a bent minnow style Baz?? (Lay on its side) or more conventional walk the dog style?
Rupe.

Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught...

Hopefully it'll walk the dog Rupe. If they don't the inshore pelagics should smash it while its being skipped across the top.

I'm going to have a go at a bent minnow type lure. I think it might take a bit to find out where to put some weight in the body and how much.
