Hey Jas & Molasses Wally.....

Made these on the weekend for our trip on Saturday..... I know Jas like to throw timber lures around in the snags , so I thought I should do the same.... lol lol

Thanks Zaneswan ,

Carved them Saturday morning ( about 2 hours work ) glued with 5 minute Araldite ( don't believe what any body says , its plenty strong enough ) then Kieth Baker style " piss thin clear undercoat x 6 dips".

Painted on sunday morning.... 20 minutes work. Bibs glued in and trebles attached yesterday.

As far a glue goes for hook-hangers and eye-lets , the last lure I made to go fishing with Jas and the Wally,s , had no glue !! they will back me up with this...... and the lure caught fish and is ready to use again for this trip. NO GLUE !!

BTW.... used twisted wires.... not Screw eyes either.

Hopefully some photos of a fish or two hanging off one of these lures to post up next week.

WOOHOOO how good are they, you gotta love fishing timbers. Even better if their your own.

I picked up an old spud peeler i will give a swim this time, hopefully with a cod attached. As well as a few homemades...

Looking forward to it, bring on the weekend.

Great looking lures Rob. clapclap

Love to see some pics with fish on them.

No glue and twisted eyelets!?! Do you predrill at a gauge much smaller and twist them into the timber. ???

Jimmy ,

Spot on mate..... and if a bit of water gets into the hole during fishing , the timber swells and it is even harder to get the eyelet out. This method wont work for the bib of course , but if your using Polycarb bibs , they will go in last , so all your carving and painting can be done in about 36 - 48 hours..... bingo , lure ready to use in 3 days MAX.
I wouldn,t advise this system for someone making large quantities for the commercial market , but for my own use , at short notice .... it has never let me down.
