Looking Back

Due to the recent passing of my mate, I have been thinking about the old fella a bit and thought I might do a post .

I really don`t know why, as this is not a tribute, he would hate that, but more a picture of him as a mate and not a bad old bloke. This is probably more about our friendship than anything else and will be of no interest to most.

Keith was never egotistical, had no idea what his lures were worth and wouldn`t have cared. We would talk once or twice a month if I paid for the call and rarely talked about lures. Most of our conversations were whinging about the state of the world and how we were the only ones that knew how to fix it. He loved his dogs, his orchids and his wife. Probably in that order. lol

Keith John Baker passed away on the 18th June 2019 in Wangaratta Vic.

The following pics are illustrations of his skill and his sense of humour and also a memory of our friendship.
As these are not in any chronological order, I think I might do this a few at a time.

These were hand made by Keith, he made a lot more than just lures.

Keith had a couple of names for me. I used to collect kangaroo poo for him to use on his native orchids. His secret ingredient to his award winning babies.
I also illegally dug him some natives from Ula Reserve smckin Because he had a licence to do so when he lived here, he reckoned it might still apply. nope

The map to their whereabouts thumbsupsmilie Have a look at the bottom corner.

Whenever Keith would send a batch of lures he would always have a note attached. there was a recurrent theme.
Some of his notes and some of his batches.
As it is no longer applicable, I have left the address on his notes. Ev moved out sometime before Keith`s passing.

The tools of the trade.
Keith`s knife is already featured on this forum. Rob replaced this old one with a brand new one, don`t know what happened to the newie ???
Not long before his hands finally gave out on him and he couldn`t carve anymore, I purchased a little bandsaw for him. Don`t think he ever used it,but he did retire Mack and gave him to me.

I do believe there are some who believe Keith was resurrected by Rob and myself. I can`t for the life of me work out why they think this, but for those that don`t, this is the old fella.
For those that think he`s been long departed, this is the actor we got to play his role lol lol

Never wealthy, simple and unpretentious. A battler who neither drank or smoked in his life, but not a wowser. A good mate and I`m sorry to see him go.
