Painted eyes

Painted eyes seem to be a rarity on Keith`s lures.
I have no idea how many he painted and if I asked Keith, I still don`t think we would have an accurate number.
Keith reckons he tried to paint them at the start, but never really liked the idea and soon went onto his more familiar dolls, teddy bear and pin eyes.
I think it would be fair to assume that if you have one with painted eyes, it is an early Keith Baker lure. (Pre 1990)
The two little ones in this pic are his Nilsie copy. These were painted with a spray can and were the first lures Keith ever made for sale. He sent a batch to Fishing Tackle Aust. in Coffs. Not sure where the two in the pic fit in, but I would like to think they were part of the first batch.

Very nice mate droolsmilie

A few more pics would be even better for the folks to use a reference.

No doubt there will be some green eyes who see this as you showing off!

But that doesn’t matter as they don’t matter.

I wasn’t going to say I haven’t got any but “I HAVEN’T GOT ANY” thumbsupsmilie

Your right again mate. I don`t care and they don`t matter. howdy
I know one good bloke and his young son who really do love these things and that`s reason enough to post up some more pics on your request.

This one I didn`t notice the other day when I was looking for painted eyes. It`s not just the eyes that are painted. A very early lure and a Keith classic thumbsupsmilie

It`s important to remember, these are all made before the end of 1990. It`s around that time that Keith moved to Ula and says he never painted another eye. The old shop in Coona and the lovely old lady who sold him all his eyes while he was there, is still going today. It`s like walking back in time in a small country town.
