another fleamarket find

Hi , folks ,

Since the sun is shining bright and it became quite warm again(for North European terms)predator fishing is slow again for one more time , so I went to some fleamarkets again today and was lucky to find these two "Ugly Ducklings" .
5€ was not a bad price at all , in shops a single one would surely cost more than that , though I don't remember to have seen this brand in local shops before !

The third smaller U.D. I have also found on a fleamarket , also in its original box , but already more than one year ago !

Deiter,
I find it amusing that your local shops don't sell lures made in Europe, but they are freely available here down under.
Whilst not as well known as Salmo, they have models much similar and the paint jobs are nice a well.
I seem to recal they are made in the Ukraine or Estonia (??? or one of the former soviet satelitte states)

I was wondering , but they do not state their origin on their boxes ,.......prior to having read about them in here I did not know , that the original designer was from Serbia , but I still do not know , where they are actually made .

Googled for them and found their site , but no such info provided there as well , only a Canadian importers/distributors adress .

Certainly they are sold over here as well , but at least not in the tackleshops around my area(I know them all droolsmilie droolsmilie droolsmilie ) .

I recall to have seen them in a certain German mailorder catalog , also read a few articles about them in the local angling press .

Don't know about the Ukraine , but in Estonia some "Rapala" models are assembled ,...... these small Baltic states over there are culturally related more to Scandinavia(Sweden/Finland) than to any other neighbor countries , anyway .

Some of my packets say "Manufactured in Yugoslavia"

Some say "Manufactured by Grafopromet-Yugoslavia"

and some say "Distributed by Globe Import Export-Canada Produced in Bosnia and Hercegovina"

ONYA JIM clapclap
Bosnia and Hercegovina were former provinces of Yugoslavia back in the bad ol' days, I knew they were somewhere connected with the old USSR states.

Sorry to be a smartass on you , but Yugoslavia was not connected with the USSR somehow , it was just the other way , ......their communist leader Jossip Bros Tito quite soon after World War 2 gained a certain independence from Moscow , he did not want to be involved into the two block system of the cold war time and always tried to make his own way through .

Yugoslavia was a socialist country , though ,.... but without most of those harsh restrictions for their citizens , f.e. many people from over there came to work in Germany since the 1960's , the government did not stop them to go !

Tito was their national hero , since he bravely fought the terror of the German nazi occupants and finally kicked them out with his partisan militias and allied supplies under severe and cruel casualties both of troups and civilians .

He was the one , that kept the different nationalities in Yugoslavia together(actually these were forced together already centuries before by the Turkish sultans and later the Austrian-Hungarian emperors) , after his death they drove more and more apart which finally led into the civil war during the 1990's .

During that civil war it was only the Serbian party backed up by the Russians , they ever felt related due to cultural reasons .

But enough about lousy politics(I am just a bit interested in history) ,..... I just could not find any hint about origin on the boxes of my new lures !

Can it be , that the ones stated "Made in Yugoslavia" were made prior or during the civil war , the ones stated "Bosnia-Hercegowina" must be made a while after that war , because as the result of that ruthless manslaughter the different countries , that we know today , were founded ,..... of which only Serbia nowadays feels somehow Pro-Russian , all the others "go west" more or less ?

Bosnia-Hercegowina had already existed between the two world wars , if my memory serves me right ,..... Tito put all together to create the nation Yugoslavia after 1945 , .........but surely the lures are not as old as that lol !

Bloody politics and lure-collecting hand in hand -duh -duh !
