G'day Fella's....just picked up the timber for the anniversary sets. Had 2 choices...

1st. Was timber removed from a Lunker ship in the early 70's ( Brown beech ) but after a close look , the dry-rot was too severe. Which is why it was replaced with new.

2nd. Was off cuts from the decking of a boat built in 1980 , and the year is purely coincidental to my starting of lure-making

Details......name of boat......Mustique 77 footer
Construction.......1980
Built at..............Swan Bay Via Woodburn N.S.W
Ship builders.......York Brothers
Decking material...White beech
Current location of boat......Mother-ship based off Lizard Is. for game fishing and charter work ( privately owned )

Still not savy with posting photo's on the site.......so Rupe will do that for me................the carving will start soon Thanks Rob

Fantastic to see it's all going ahead Rob. thumbsupsmilie
Also great to know where the timber is from and it's origin. Can't wait to see some photos of the process.

Pity about the brown beech but it's great news that you've sourced some other timber and for it to be 30 years old is a bonus. Will the lures be 'nude' or will they be painted.I reckon they'd look good in some of your earlier colours and patterns.

G'day Quinny.....ive had mixed feeling/idea's on the colours/patterns....but at this stage I think i'll do old colours and patterns on most of them & maybe do a few in each set with a 2010 look about them on the original old shape.
Definately ...NO....NUDIES. We never made nudies back then. They were simply un-finished lures.

Started the number 1 set over the w/end and Rupe will post a few progresive photo's soon. Each set will be done in sequence 1- 30 and kept seperately during construction....Set number 1 is ready for glueing.........Im a bit slower than i used to be " damn old age & hands " R.D.R
