Fizza Dave,
I got that lure in a promo pack when the Risto Rap was introduced in OZ, it came with keyring and Rapala baseball cap.

Dieter, I have always wondered, we hear the americans pronounce Rapala differently to we nasty aussies.
The yanks say it RAP..ALA, we seem to say it RA..PALA.how is it said in the Europes??? lol

@ fishaholiclures

What a question , Brad smckin !

If your dots stand for a longer pronounced "A" , in Germany we most likely say it that way : "RA..PALA" , but I won't make a bet on it , whether this is the ABSOLUTE CORRECT FINNISH WAY !

If you want , I could ask my Finnish friend for it ?

In German language we pronounce the "A" as an "A" and not rather a bit more like an "E" , as especially the Americans would do , the German "A" always sounds like the "A" in f.e. the word "harbour" .
If in German the "A" should rather sound like an "E" , we would either write it "AE" or "Ä" , same stands for "OE" , "Ö" , "UE" and "Ü"......... but that's another story ! -duh -duh -duh blah blah blah lol lol lol

PS : In other European languages it might still be different concerning the word "Rapala" , really can't tell !

greetz , Dieter howdy howdy
Hurts so bad living in a loony bin !

Hi Deiter,
Yes I remember all too well learning German at high school. that damn umlaus must have been designed by a mad scientist lol one little twist and it makes another word lol

It is hard to convey the pronunciation by word, but there is a DVD from Rapala, done for the US market I guess, and they pronounce it rapalaa (try saying it in your head with a yankee accent) and we say it raparla (do it wiht a croc hunter accent)

Anyway thats enough dialect dissemination, which ever way you say it, they are damn fine lures clapclap

Brad
You're correct, the Risto Rap in GTR (Green Tiger) was a promotional lure or 'special' lure only.

Simon,
I am not sure of numbers, I have only seen Gold with black spine, Gold with bronze spine, Silver with black spine, Silver with blue spine and Silver with olive spine. There could be others I assume as they were supposed to have been done in the son's favouite colours.

The base colour is actually a foil with stars embossed on it.

The signatures of Risto, Ensio and Eskio
anniversary Rapalas bib.jpg
The bib has Laurie Rapalas signature moulded into it in place of normal Rapala name and model

Brad

yes I was wondering because I bought 5 colours which was all the shop had at the time but looking on Rapalas site I see there were 6.

Anyway mine are tucked away in their box, the foil finish does look good.
