Paw Paw 'Watta Frog' - Large

Post by MXB » Sun Jul 05, 2009 8:39 pm

Heres' my newest (well oldest) Paw Paw 'Watta Frog' in large size. You can see smaller one in the background.

This has the old hardware and probably dates from 1930's. Beautifully made vintage lures;

Nice lures .The Wotta Frogs you have are the Wotta Frog Junior from 1948 to the 6o's and the Wotta Frog from 1941 to the 60's .Did you know that the trebles on end of each frog leg use to be feathered with buck hair and in the 60's the Wotta Frog was offered without the diving bib also Paw Paw had a lure that was a single leg from the Wotta Frog lure and was called the Frog Leg .catch ya

Sorry Laz . . . I've mislead people on the dates again crazysmilie crazysmilie crazysmilie

I've noticed two different types of hardware on these and this is the earlier style with the wrap-around one piece metal harness that secures the legs.

The newer ones ( and I assume 1950's and 1960's) have a two piece hardware mounted on the side of the body where the legs attach.

I'll post one up to compare in the near future and thanks for the dates and ID's Laz . . . you are a fountain of knowledge and I just may have tracked down a proper reference to date these lures properly.

I was just guessing by the look of them and need to do better research . . . but then that wouldn't leave anything for you to do!! : ))

lol lol lol lol lol
