Paw Paw 'WOW Bug' . . . freakish things

Post by MXB » Sun Jul 05, 2009 8:27 pm

Check this out . . . very early Paw Paw. I think they were called "WOW BUGS";

The paint jobs are the same as the Watta Frogs and these are scarce with an interesting double hook arrangement and two hair wings;

MXB .Your Paw Paw is called a Weedless Wow they were first made in the early 1940 's .There were two sizes of the lure 2 1/4'' & 1 3/4'' and by the the early 1960's they had modified the lure by getting rid of the double hook that is inserted into the body and replacing it with a double hook hanging from the tail end and hanging rubber frogs legs from screw eyes on each side .Hope this info may be of some use to you .catch ya

Awesome info Laz and you are right it's the WEEDLESS WOW.

I thought they were mid to late 30's but its good to get a date . . . this is an early model so would be 1940's

Its amazing that during the Great Depression and WW2, arguably some of the best lures ever were made when no one could afford them.

blahblah blahblah
