Here's a couple of pics of 48 Runts in correct boxes. This is about 60% of boxed Runts that I had.

Recently sold about 1/2 of these pictured.

@ Brad...patiently awaiting your pics sir droolsmilie

@ Steve...that color is called Strawberry...and you'd be amazed at the number of folks that collect lures of that paint pattern.

Probably ranks as #2 behind frog colored lures as collectible I believe ???

Nice lot of Runts there Dave . . .

Wanted to show a few that I like;

Image

I can't find this colour pattern listed anywhere?? Any info??

Image

Sort of got faint 'clown spots' under the white 'shore pattern'

Image

Image

Gold markings and eyes which would indicate reasonably early after 2 piece hardware

And my favourite Blackshore pattern in earlier 'Banner Box' with 2 piece hardware

Image

Image

The earlier boxes had a few differences

Another earlier one in a common colour;

Nice looks Roger clapclap

Unfortunately the XBW, RH and the L should be in the older "Brush" style of box since they have the 2 piece hardware. smckin

Like this one thumbsupsmilie wwnk

Yes Dave . . . inherited these ones in the later boxes but I have been told by someone that there was some crossover with 2 piece Runts in these style of boxes. I always thought that they had to be in the Brush Boxes too. Probably just BS!!

Thanks for setting it right thumbsupsmilie

Guys, something to mull over
Russell Lewis writes that Heddon often used earlier boxes on later baits.
Tom Jacomet says on his excellent site>>>

"There are two versions of the 'jumping bass' box which can aid in dating the box. The early version shows a White & Red Shore Minnnow River Runt hanging from the mouth of the bass. In addition, the mouth is partially reddish in color. The later version, used after WWII, looks much the same except the lure is a Yellow Shore Minnow River Runt and the mouth on the bass is partially gray in color."
Larry Nicholson of Tacklecollecting.com dates Two Piece "Flap-Rig" Hardware (2PC) 1933-43

So that being the case, it is quite concievable that you have pretty close to original boxes Rog. thumbsupsmilie

Dave the Brush box was introduced in 1936 as well as Mr Brush in the introduction to the same years catalog. This box replaced the 'Fish Flesh" box introduced in 1932. There were actually 3 versions of the Brush box depending on the lure size contained within, and apparently hard to date them by the BX# printed on them. The 'Up Bass' with white shore runt was introduced in 1942/3 and changed to the Yellow Shore runt around 1946/7 and remained until replaced by the cellophane top box in the early 50's.
