Heddon "Pal" Jigs

I was always intrigued by references to the Heddon "Twin Pal" jig in Vic McCristal's writings on tropical freshwater in the 1960s, but was never able to find one in local tackle-stores when I moved to North Queensland in late 1973. (...or anything like it, for that matter!)

Now, decades later, I decided to try and track one down. Happy to report I am half way there! Image

Behold: a nice example of the Heddon "Pal" jig !!
I'm still looking for the other half! Image

For the 'younger' guys who weren't brought up on McSea (poor sods!) I have attached examples from his writings on this interesting lure.
Just remember that in the 1960s, these things we now take for granted in Australia were way ahead of their time!

Vic states that the Twin Pal was "one of his favourite lures":- big words from that bloke...!

Managed to find a Twin Pal jig to add to the collection.
It has obviously done plenty of work, but will probably improve with a bit of careful cleaning and polishing the blades:

Already looks great in the display-case next to the 'Pal'...

Thanks for your kind comments gentlemen, always happy to share enthusiasm for lure-collecting...
Plenty to go 'round on these forums!

While researching the Spin-Fins for another post I discovered that the Heddon Twin-Pal jig was introduced in 1964 and ceased in 1969.
Only ~5 years of production ending over 40 years ago!

No wonder they're so bloody hard to find! Image
