A Yank looking for info on a deceased friend's Newell Lure

Post by mgauch » Sat Apr 26, 2014 5:20 am

I'm helping the widow of my deceased friend liquidate his tackle collection. I came across this lure (Pics below) with "Newell" & "Scorpion" written on each side. There was no box with it. He lived in Australia for a few years so that must be where he acquired this.

I was hoping someone might tell me some info on this beautiful lure (eg., color, value, fresh or salt water, etc.) before I put it up on eBay. Thanks in advance.

Hello mgauch,

All of Peter Newell`s lures are considered very collectable in this country.

This one looks to be a fine example of Peter`s work & given the strong following for his work, if you are going to list it on Ebay, I reckon it would fetch more if listed in Australia.

I wouldn`t attempt to put a price on a genuine Newell , but they are certainly highly collectable.
Regards.....Vince.

Thank you so much for your reply, it was extremely helpful. I will put this on the Australian eBay hopefully by tomorrow. I will post the eBay link on this thread for anyone who would care to bid.
Have a great day!
-Mike
