Scorpion Like

This looks like a Scorpion, but I don't think it is.
It's body is 53 mm long and 63 mm over all.
It made of timber.
The bib is very pointed.

Definitely made by John Bennett. Sometimes called the Baby Merlin - I call it the peanut lure. Got a number of these from John and not sure if this particular bib type became a commercial release (don't have this colour).

Some of the Merlin experts may be able to give more information.

Frank, Now I understand & know what you meant when you mentioned "peanut" .

I have around 150 of these pre Dan McGrath Attack fame.

John, I'm sure called these Baby Merlins and as far as I'm aware the pointy metal bibbed lures were amongst some of his 1st of this series of lures.

He also did some pointed bibs in either plastic or perspex of which i have a few & got from John in the early 90's from memory.

Thanks for that Fizza - an impressive collection.

I have a few experimental colours - like solid yellow, black and an almost 3D pink/brown colour with pinkish white spots - really one of the most incredible paint jobs I have ever seen on a lure - just need to get a photo for the site. Have used a few of them so only have half a dozen or so left.

Do you have these colours in your collection?

I honestly can't remember mate plus I'm bloody colourblind.

I'll email you some pics of what i have Frank, I think that'll be easier than a colourblind, old timer possibly suffering from altziemers could explain

Another of unconfirmed heritage.
70mm body length, and 80 overall.

Rob , can I ask what outcome you can confirm ?

The outcome I heard of about 3 or 4 weeks ago was fantasy.

Rob,are you able to confirm the origin of my lure?
Is it one you made?
Apparently it was purchased from Archie's Bait & Tackle at Caboolture in the late 80's or early 90's.
