Welch's??

Post by samlovesfish » Sun Oct 16, 2011 5:39 pm

Anyone know what fish this is my little fella caught?
Darcy;s grunter.JPG

It was caught in a creek in the Etheridge Shire while fishing for Sooty's. I think it looks like a few pics I've seen of Welch's grunter, though I've never caught one myself and have no idea of the distribution.

What do you think?

Please let me know so he can officially add it to his brag list thumbsupsmilie

Cheers
Sam

Hey thanks for the info Dave clapclap

I checked it out and it definately looks like the Barcoo cos of the spots.
I really wasn't sure if they got this far up, but apparently they do!

Now lets see if I can catch one too

Cheers
Sam

Ive caught these same fish once before fishing at the river near Emerald. And i thought they were silver perch but then realised they were something else and i reckon they were barcoo grunters, they were identical to the one you have in the photo
